Some Considerations before You Buy a Cat to Become a New Family Member

Do you want to buy a cat?

Before you rush and buy a cat, there are so many things to think about and consider. Take a moment to ensure preparation for your new pet cat.

For example, if a cat can live up to 15 years or more, if you bring a kitten into your house, it can form the beginning of a long term relationship. Having a cat can change your life in many ways, mostly to the something better. But there are several habits changes that you have to do. For example, you can’t go on holiday just for weekend without care about what happens to your cat and who will look after him while you go.

The impact of having pet cats

I explain the impact that occurs in your home. Scratched furniture, cat hair everywhere, is a test that you must face in caring for cats. Will you clean the cat hair scattered all around your house? How if he brings a dead bird or a dead mouse into your living room? Then smell of food bowls in the kitchen to think about.

Decision making does not stop even when you decide to keep a cat. Lots to think about before you finally bring your new pet home.

Some ways to get a pet cat

Firstly, you want a kitten or an adult cat? Choosing a kitten when it was very young, saw its growth, from small furry naughty cat becomes an adult cat. It was a wonderful experience, but it’s not your only option. There are thousands of cats suffering out there who missed rescued in animal rescue centers across the country. Giving them a new home and life as valuable as raising a kitten.

It is also an option if you are an already old. There are a lot of older cats at the rescue center. By providing a home to these animals, you will get the pleasure of caring for a cat with no worry about having a pet that will live longer than you.

There are other ways that you can keep a cat, it can happen if there is a cat comes into your home and be a part of your family. But there are some considerations before you decide to make these newcomers become part of your family members.

The main thing, make sure the animal is no one cared, no one is looking for him everywhere while you're giving him food, fish and cream in your home. Ask your neighbors if anyone has lost a cat around the area. If not, note the necklace worn cat, is there a phone number listed there. If there, call the number. Because you have to think about your own feelings how if your cat is gone missing.

If no identification whatsoever, take the cat to the nearest vet and he can scan the microchip identifier in the cat's body. This tiny microchip implanted under the skin of neck and contains a unique combination of numbers. If your vet scans the microchip, then the cat and the original owner can be met again.

Examination for deadly diseases

If indeed there is no identification and the cat is no one has, there's one more thing to consider before you decide to take care of it, which is examining two diseases called "Feline Leukaemia" (FeLV) and "Feline AIDS" (FIV). Both are deadly diseases for cats that are usually carried by wild or stray cat that usually look healthy with no signs of suffering from these diseases. Ask your vet for blood tests to check for the viruses. If the test result was good, it's great news and please takes your cat home. So, there is no reason a feral cat cannot become a sweet pet cat.
